Q: What is Meditation?

A: The idea behind meditation is to consciously relax your body and focus your thoughts on one thing for a sustained period. This occupies your mind, diverting it from the problems that are causing you stress. It gives your body time to relax and recuperate, and to clear away stress hormones that may have built up.
Q: How do I Meditate?
A: The best way to meditate is to find somewhere quiet and peaceful to relax in where you are unlikely to be disturbed, make sure you have mobile phone, television etc turned off. Wear comfortable clothes. Sit or lie down in a relaxed and comfortable position. Breathe deeply and just allow yourself to relax.
Q: Do I Need Anything to Meditate With?
A: Some people will advice you that you need incense, music, mandalas to look at, a candle or flame burning, tibetian chimes or cymbals. My best advice is whatever you feel comfortable with. The act of meditation is to go inside your mind so although using outside items such as incense can help create an atmosphere, they are not essential.
Q: Can Anyone Meditate?
A: The simple answer is probably yes although this does depend on your willingness to relax and let your mind go. Some people are more readily able to be hypnotised and meditate that others. Only 1 in 20 people are deep subjects.

Q: Who May Benefit From Hypnotherapy?
A: The answer is, almost anyone! The common reasons for seeking hypnotherapy are far too long and varied to catalogue but certainly includes: anxiety, panic, phobias, unwanted habits and addictions (e.g. smoking, overeating, alcoholism), disrupted sleep patterns, lack of confidence and low self esteem, fear of examinations and public speaking, allergies and skin disorders, migraine and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Q: How Do I Find a Suitable Hypnotherapist?
A: At the present time there is no single regulating body for Hypnotherapy. However the GHSC (General Hypnotherapy Standards Council) is working steadily to achieve this desired outcome for all parties and thus contacting a GHR (General Hypnotherapy Register) practitioner should afford clients the necessary confidence to proceed with a full consultation.

Q: What's With all the Butterflies?
A: Good question! About eighteen months ago I went through a bit of a bad patch in life (as you do!). When I started feeling better, I seemed to see butterflies wherever I went - in garden, new job, peoples clothes etc. To me they symbolise a change in my life, positivity, freedom and happiness.
